From:                                          David O. Livingston, Sheriff-Coroner

Report Title:                     Axel Technologies, Inc.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Office of the Sheriff, Civil Unit, or designee, to execute a contract with Axel Technologies, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $ 3,000 and ACCEPT Terms of Service for the use of their web-based mapping system software for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this request will result in up to $3,000 in contractual  expenditures over a 2-year period and will be funded 100% by the General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

Axel Technologies provides an online mapping service. This mapping service optimizes the officer’s route, while serving court process throughout the whole county of Contra Costa. This system is easy to navigate and if an issue ever arises support staff on their end has a quick response time.

The requested term is retroactive to when the contractor continued to provide services in good faith and also allows the department to continue using the vendor through June 30, 2027.  The Terms of Service include limitations of liability from the County to the contractor.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not approve, the Office of the Sheriff, Civil Unit, will not be able to serve court process efficiently.
