RECOMMENDATIONS:
Acting as the governing body of the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (FCD), APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with CWE, to extend the term through September 29, 2028, for on-call professional engineering services related to flood control facility design, with no change to the payment limit, Countywide.

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact with this action, as it is only to extend the term of the contract. This project is funded by 100% FCD Funds (Project No.: Various).

BACKGROUND:
The FCD provides regional flood protection, technical information, hydrology data and education to cities and residents, as well as environmental stewardship for over 70 miles of streams and several detention basins as part of Contra Costa County’s flood protection system. The FCD prepares and reviews designs prepared by others that modify the existing flood protection system and require professional facility design consultation in these efforts. In many cases, the flood protection facility proposed for modification was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, which means adherence to their standards, policies, and procedures.

In implementing modifications to the flood control system, the FCD, at times, requires additional temporary professional engineering services, including flood control facility design.
