Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order with Best Buy Co., Inc. in an amount not to exceed $3,224, and ACCEPT a Terms and Conditions for the purchase of a television for the Office of the Sheriff’s Detention Facility, for the period, October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The purchase will be funded 100% by the Prisoners (Inmate) Welfare Fund.

 

 

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff provides televisions in the housing units of all the detention facilities. When television units are broken, worn out and need to be replaced, the department purchases the televisions at a discounted bulk rate through Best Buy’s Purchasing Department. 

 

The Terms and Conditions include a limitation of liability and indemnification from the County to Best Buy.

 

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not approve, it will result in the inability to provide televisions for the incarcerated individuals within Contra Costa County detention facilities.
