BACKGROUND
Caltrans Division of Aeronautics has been working on updates to the California Airport Planning Handbook (Handbook). The purpose of the Handbook is to provide guidance for conducting airport land use compatibility planning as required by Article 3.5, Airport Land Use Commissions, PUC Sections 21670 - 21679.5. Aeronautics staff will provide an overview of the Handbook and the update process. Additionally, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is a rapidly emerging technology. Local agencies will be looking to develop AAM regulations to reduce potential impacts (e.g., noise, overflight annoyance). Aeronautics staff will also discuss advances by the Division on AAM regulation and guidance.
RECOMMENDATION
RECEIVE presentation and overview from Caltrans Division of Aeronautics staff on Airport Land Use Compatibility Planning, discuss and provide feedback and direction to ALUC staff as appropriate.
