Report Title:                     Contract Amendment with Magellan Health Services of California, Inc.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Acting as the governing board of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Fire Chief, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Magellan Health Services of California, Inc., to increase the payment limit by $40,000 to a new payment limit of $180,000 and to extend the term date from June 30, 2025, to June 30, 2026, to provide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Budgeted. 100% CCCFPD General Operating Fund.

BACKGROUND:

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is committed to supporting the overall well-being of its employees and firefighters by providing access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This program offers essential resources such as counseling, legal, and financial services, ensuring personnel have the support they need to manage both personal and professional challenges. Given the unique and often traumatic nature of emergency response work, EAP services play a vital role in promoting mental health, stability, and resilience among our workforce. By offering these benefits, the Fire District affirms its dedication to the health and safety of its employees and their families.

The agreement includes both limitation of liability and indemnification language.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, employees and firefighters will lose access to critical support services that promote their health and well-being.
