RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with Palo Alto Networks, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $246,180 for the GlobalProtect cyber security software for the Office of the Sheriff, for the period July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this request will result in a one-time expenditure of $246,180 and it will be funded through a combination of a federal grant and the General Fund.
The first requested amount of $46,300 will be funded 76.4% by the Homeland Security Grant FY22 and 23.6% by the General Fund.
The second requested amount of $112,820 will be funded 68% by the Homeland Security Grant FY22 and 32% by the General Fund.
The third requested amount of $87,060 will be funded 89.7% by the Homeland Security Grant FY21 and 10.3% by the General Fund.

BACKGROUND:
Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (PAN) participated in a competitive selection process and was awarded the contract (RFP 2401-737). PAN is an industry leader in providing hardware and software firewall solutions. The Sheriff's Office has PAN hardware and software installed at multiple locations within the department. This purchase will add GlobalProtect software to the two firewall devices in the data center located in the Communications Center.
GlobalProtect enables organizations to protect the mobile workforce by extending the Next-Generation Security Platform to all users, regardless of location. It secures traffic by applying the platform's capabilities to understand application use, associate the traffic with users and devices, and enforce security policies with next-generation technologies.
