RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE Budget Amendment No. BDA-26-00622 authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount of $40,000 from the Department of Information Technology (0147) to Public Works Internal Service Fund Fleet Services (0064) for the purchase of one 2026 Toyota Camry Sedan.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The action increases appropriations in the Fleet Internal Service Fund (0064) and reduces appropriations in the Department of Information Technology (0147). (100% User Department)

BACKGROUND:

The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) has four divisions whose staff routinely travel to County facilities throughout the County to support business operations, attend meetings and training, transport equipment, and perform on-site technical work. In particular, DoIT's Network Services staff regularly travel to County offices and facilities to install, maintain, and troubleshoot critical technology and communications infrastructure that supports County departments and operations. At present, employees frequently use their personal vehicles to perform these work-related duties. This practice is not ideal and raises concerns regarding liability, equity, and the appropriate use of personal resources for County business.

To support operational needs and ensure safer, more consistent transportation for staff, DoIT is requesting the purchase of a new departmental vehicle. The Toyota Camry is a mid-size sedan equipped with a hybrid/electric I-4 engine offering improved fuel efficiency, advanced safety and driver-assist features, substantial trunk capacity for transporting equipment and materials, and a range of interior monitoring and safety sensors.
