Report Title:                     Agreement with Moraga-Orinda Fire District - Health and Wellness Center

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Fire Chief, or designee, to execute an Agreement with the Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) to use the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District’s (CCCFPD) Health and Wellness Center to conduct annual physicals, for the period March 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact associated with the execution of this agreement.

BACKGROUND:

On April 18, 2023, CCCFPD entered into an agreement with Life Extension Clinics, also known as Life Scan Wellness Center (Life Scan), for annual physical exams in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 standards. Each fall, the CCCFPD Health and Wellness center transitions into a medical center to facilitate these exams. Subsequently, MOFD also entered into an agreement with Life Scan for NFPA 1582 testing.

This agreement between CCCFPD and MOFD is mutually beneficial. It grants MOFD access to Life Scan clinicians at a convenient location and extends appointment availability for CCCFPD employees by prolonging the duration of time Life Scan is on site.  This agreement includes a provision for mutual indemnification between MOFD and CCCFPD.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without this agreement, the MOFD would lack additional appointment times, complicating scheduling for the numerous employees mandated to undergo annual NFPA 1582 testing.
