To: Board of Supervisors
From: David O. Livingston, Sheriff-Coroner
Report Title: Dispatch Services for the Town of Moraga
☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract renewal with the Town of Moraga to pay the County an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, for police dispatching services for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this request will result in $1,000,000 in revenue over a 4-year period. There is no County cost.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of the Sheriff will continue to provide police dispatching services, limited to law enforcement activity, for the Town of Moraga. Services will include dispatching, call-taking, sending and receiving voice and data traffic, answering emergency (911) calls and warrant checks to aid the Town of Moraga’s Police Department.
The Interagency Agreement includes mutual indemnification between the County and the Town of Moraga.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the Board does not approve, the Office of the Sheriff would not be able to provide the Town of Moraga with adequate 911 dispatcher services, resulting in a safety concern for the community and reduced revenue for the Office of the Sheriff and the County General Fund.
