Report Title:                     Purchase Order with Freeway Toyota of Hanford

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Department of Conservation and Development, a purchase order with Cappo Management XXXIV, Inc., dba Freeway Toyota of Hanford, in an amount not to exceed $524,124.86, for the purchase of fourteen 2026 Toyota BZ electric vehicles, which will be used by staff responsible for conducting building and grading inspections and code enforcement.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No impact to the General Fund (100% Land Development Funds).

BACKGROUND:

The Department has nine gas-powered sports utility vehicles and one gas-powered truck, which need to be deadlined due to mileage and cost of service.  There are three additional gas-powered sports utility vehicles that have already been deadlined due to the cost of service.  These vehicles are needed for staff to perform their building inspection, grading inspection and code enforcement duties.

The fourteen new electric-powered sports utility vehicles will replace three vehicles that have already been deadlined, ten vehicles to be deadlined as well as add one vehicle to the Department’s fleet due to an increase in the total number of staff hired to conduct inspections.

The Department is seeking a purchase order in the amount of $524,124.86 to authorize the purchase of the vehicles needed.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If not approved, the Department of Conservation and Development will not be able to purchase the vehicles needed to continue providing timely inspection services.
