SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE

Meeting Date:   March 9, 2026

Subject:   RECEIVE REPORT on Contra Costa County Climate Action and Adaptation Plan 2025 Progress Report, as recommended by the Sustainability Commission, and REFER to Board of Supervisors for acceptance

Submitted For:    SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE

Department:    DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION & DEVELOPMENT

Presenter:   Jody London || Sustainability Coordinator | DCD

Contact:    Jody London | (925) 655-2815

Referral History:

The Sustainability Commission submits an annual Climate Action and Adaptation Plan Progress Report (Progress Report) to the Board of Supervisors. The report is submitted in March, concurrent with the submittal of annual reports for other planning documents submitted by the Department of Conservation and Development. This allows the report to include data for the entire calendar year.

Referral Update:

The Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) 2024 Update was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on November 5, 2024. This Progress Report provides the first annual progress update on implementation of the CAAP since it was adopted. Previous reports covered the 2015 Climate Action Plan and a series of Interim Climate Action Work Plans that outlined the actions the County took to address the changing climate while the CAAP was being updated.

The Draft Contra Costa County Climate Action and Adaptation Plan 2025 Progress Report is attached. The Draft Progress Report was adopted by the Sustainability Commission at its February 23, 2026, meeting and will be on the agenda for the Board of Supervisors later in March.
