Report Title:                     APPROVE Budget Amendment No. BDA-26-00570

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE Budget Amendment No. BDA-26-00570 authorizing the transfer of $300,000 in appropriations from the Department of Information Technology to the Office of the Sheriff for network infrastructure renewal.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% General Fund - IT Project Supplemental Funding.

BACKGROUND:

The FY 25/26 budget includes planned IT projects to help modernize and protect the County’s information technology infrastructure. Approved projects included $300,000 for Sheriff’s Office network infrastructure renewal. DoIT centrally manages approved Supplemental funding for County information technology projects to ensure coordination, standardization, and alignment with enterprise technology strategy. As such, the approved funding for this project was initially allocated to DoIT. DoIT recommends transferring the approved funds to the Sheriff’s Office to allow the department to procure and deploy the replacement server and proceed with the refresh of this portion of its technology platform. This upgrade will help ensure the continued stability, security, and performance of critical Sheriff’s Office applications while supporting current operational needs.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to approve this budget amendment would delay the Sheriff’s Office ability to replace aging virtualization infrastructure that supports critical applications. This delay could impact system performance and postpone the Sheriff’s Office transition to DoIT’s Enterprise Private Cloud platform for future hosting needs.
