Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, to execute a purchase order with La Marche Manufacturing Company in an amount not to exceed $25,000 for the purchase of radio parts, equipment, tools, service and repairs, subject to La Marche’s terms and conditions, for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The cost is charged to the user department.  100% User Departments.

BACKGROUND:

The Department of Information Technology’s (DOIT) Radio and Microwave Division staff utilized La Marche Manufacturing Company (La Marche)  to procure a range of products including industrial battery chargers, rectifiers, power supplies, inverters, converters, uninterruptible power supplies as well as other tools, service and repairs. The team has deployed rectifiers manufactured by La Marche at Rocky Ridge microwave tower. Ongoing maintenance with La Marche will ensure continuity and integrity of the system.

La Marche’s terms contain an indemnification provision from the County to La Marche.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The inability to purchase from La Marche Manufacturing could have serious implications for the County which relies on their rectifiers. These include increased maintenance costs, operational disruptions, compatibility issues, compliance risks, and reduced long-term reliability.
