Report Title: Accept Donation from the Friends of the Danville Library
RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Librarian, or designee, to accept donations in the aggregate amount of $50,000 from the Friends of the Danville Library to support library collections.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Library Fund has received two (2) donations from the Friends of the Danville Library to be allocated as follows. No County match is required.
• $30,000 for grant ebooks and audiobooks
• $20,000 for children and teens library collections
BACKGROUND:
The Library Department has received two donations totaling $50,000 from the Friends of the Danville Library to be allocated as follows: $30,000 towards systemwide eBooks and eAudiobooks, and $20,000 to augment Danville Library’s materials collections. Per Administrative bulletin 117.7, Gifts and Bequests to the County, "receipt of each gift or bequest having a value of $10,000 or more requires acceptance or rejection by the Board of Supervisors."
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Library will be unable to receive the donation revenue.
