RECOMMENDATIONS:

DECLARE and ACCEPT the certified results of the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election as recommended by the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.

BACKGROUND:

The Statewide Special Election held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, was certified following the completion of the canvass period as specified by the California Elections Code. The certified results were then sent to the State and the Board of Supervisors following these regulations.

Elections Code section 15372 requires the Elections Official to prepare a Certified Statement of Results of the election and submit those certified results to the Governing Body within 30 days of the election. A certified Statement of Votes is attached to this Board Order. The detailed Statement of Votes is available for review on the Elections Division’s webpage at <https://www.contracostavote.gov/elections/past-elections/past-election-results/>

Under Elections Code 15400, the governing body shall declare elected or nominated to each office voted on at each election under its jurisdiction the person having the highest number of votes for that office. The governing board shall also declare the results of each election under its jurisdiction as to each measure voted on at the election.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Should the Board not declare and accept the certified results of the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election, the County will not comply with the Election Code as provided by law.
