Report Title: Purchase Order with Continuing Education of the Bar, California (CEB)

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Public Defender’s Office, a purchase order amendment with Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), to extend the term through August 30, 2025, with no change in payment limit of $35,620, to continue to provide online CEB digital products.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% General Fund
BACKGROUND:
The Public Defender’s Office (CCPD) seeks to extend subscription to CEB’s OnLAW PRO, an online research engine that allows our attorneys to save time and increase efficiency by having the most current law books and online services available. This purchase order includes a service agreement, subject to CEB’s terms and conditions that contains a limitation of liability on behalf of CEB.
On September 10, 2024 the Board approved a purchase order (24-2753) with Continuing Education of the Bar, and department is now seeking approval to extend the term of this purchase order from June 30, 2025, through August 30, 2025, for continued services.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
CCPD staff will not have the tools to provide indigent legal services as mandated.
