RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Mesa Laboratories, Inc. to increase the payment limit by $7,770 to a new payment limit of $20,000, with no changes to the term ending July 4, 2027, for usage, maintenance, data hosting, and storage services for the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division temperature monitoring systems.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this request will result in up to $7,770 in additional service expenditure and will be funded 100% by the General Fund.

 

 

BACKGROUND:

Mesa Laboratories, Inc. provides the environmental monitoring system, ViewPoint Cloud, for the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division refrigerator and freezers that ensure evidence and reagents are stored at optimum conditions. ViewPoint Cloud creates a comprehensive integrated system for tracking and recording temperature with a high degree of accuracy.

 

The Terms and Conditions include indemnification and limitation of liability provisions.

 

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not approve, the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division laboratory will lose the ability to track and accurately record storage temperatures for evidence and reagents, which is requirement of accreditation.
