CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2026 CITIZEN of
the year CAROL SINGER

Whereas, Carol Singer has been a resident of Lafayette for more than fifty years and is widely recognized as one of the community's "quiet" yet profoundly impactful leaders, an individual whose steady, thoughtful, and research-driven approach has shaped major civic initiatives and strengthened the fabric of the city. As one nominator reflected, "Carol has been one of the 'quiet' volunteers who has amassed an impressive list of activities vital to the City's development and livability"; and

Whereas, this year marks Carol's remarkable 40th year of service on the Parks, Trails and Recreation Commission, where she has served with distinction since 1986, including multiple terms as Chair. She is the only Lafayette resident to have served on each of the City's major long-range planning bodies, including the General Plan Advisory Committees (for both the 2002 and current General Plans) and the Downtown Specific Plan Committee (2012), contributing her insight and institutional knowledge to decisions that will guide Lafayette for generations; and
