Report Title:                     Dispatch Services for the City of Oakley

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract renewal with the City of Oakley to pay the County an amount not to exceed $820,000, for police dispatching services for the period May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this request will result in $820,000 in revenue over a 1-year period. There is no County cost.

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff will continue to provide police dispatching services, limited to law enforcement activity, for the City of Oakley. Services will include dispatching, call-taking, sending and receiving voice and data traffic, answering emergency (911) calls and warrant checks to aid the City of Oakley’s Police Department.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not approve, the Office of the Sheriff would not be able to provide the City of Oakley with adequate 911 dispatcher services, resulting in a safety concern for the community and reduced revenue for the Office of the Sheriff and the County General Fund.
