Report Title: Contract Amendment for the 2023 On-Call Trucking Services Contract for Various Road and Flood Control Maintenance Work, Countywide.
☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with U.S.A. Trucking, Inc., to extend the term through August 14, 2026, and to increase the payment limit by $350,000 to a new payment limit of $950,000, for continued on-call trucking services to support road and flood control maintenance repairs, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Local Road and Flood Control District Funds.
BACKGROUND:
On August 15, 2023, the County awarded one on-call trucking services contract to supplement Public Works Maintenance crews during routine and emergency road and flood control maintenance work and to perform work that may be time-sensitive and may require specialized equipment and skills. A $600,000 contract was awarded to U.S.A. Trucking, Inc. The contract has a term of one year, with the option of two (2) one-year extensions.
On May 14, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract Amendment No. 1 for U.S.A Trucking, Inc., extending the completion date from August 15, 2024 through August 14, 2025, with no change to the payment limit.
To retain the services of, and to ensure timely payment to U.S.A Trucking, Inc., the Public Works Director recommends that the Board approve Contract Amendment No. 2. This amendment will extend the term of the contracts through August 14, 2026, and will also increase the payment limit of the contract by $350,000 to a new payment limit of $950,000.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve the contract amendment may prevent the Public Works Department from completing routine road and flood control maintenance work in a timely manner.
