Referral History:

On November 4, 2024, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors adopted the 2024 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) Update. The CAAP includes climate mitigation and adaptation goals and strategies, including Strategy NI-1, protect against and adapt to changes in sea levels and other shoreline flooding conditions.

 

Referral Update:

This presentation provides an update on progress the County has made on Strategy NI-1 pertaining to sea level rise resilience and adaptation planning since the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan was adopted in 2024.

 

Recommendation(s)/Next Step(s):

RECEIVE presentation on the development of the Contra Costa Resilient Shoreline Plan as it pertains to Climate Action and Adaptation Plan implementation and PROVIDE DIRECTION to staff as appropriate.

 

Fiscal Impact (if any):
The costs in staff time and materials for the Department of Conservation and Development’s work activities associated with the Contra Costa Resilient Shoreline Committee are funded by the Measure X - Climate Equity and Resilience Investment allocation administered by the department. The Department continues to pursue opportunities for grant and other funding mechanisms to support this effort.
