Report Title:                     Stericycle, Inc.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with Stericycle, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for secure mobile paper shredding and hazardous waste management services for the Office of the Sheriff, for the period August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this request will result in up to $50,000 in contractual service expenditures and will be funded 100% by the General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

Stericycle, Inc. provides secure mobile paper shredding services, and hazardous waste management services, including the disposal of pathological waste and the collection of chemo waste. The department originally contracted with Shred-it USA, Inc. for the shredding services, and paid for the services with a purchase order. During the term of that contract, Shred-it USA, Inc. was acquired by Stericycle, Inc.

The Terms and Conditions include a limitation of liability and indemnification from the County to the Contractor.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not approve, it would result in service interruptions for the Office of the Sheriff for secure mobile paper shredding services, the disposal of pathological waste and the collection of chemo waste, which are vital services for the department.
