Report Title: ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2026/4558 for parallel parking only on a segment of Vaqueros Avenue, as recommended by the Public Works Director, Rodeo Area.
☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2026/4558 for parallel parking only on the west side of Vaqueros Avenue (Road No. 1795AA), beginning at the southwest curb of Fourth Street (Road No. 1794B) and extending southerly to the northwest curb of Seventh Street (Road No. 1795A), Rodeo area. (District I)
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
Traffic Engineering staff were contacted by a resident who resides on Vaqueros Avenue in Rodeo. The resident expressed concern with vehicles that frequently park perpendicularly on the wide dirt shoulder, west of the southbound lane of Vaqueros Avenue. She indicated that this action caused unsafe conditions for motorists traveling southbound on Vaqueros Avenue.
Staff conducted a site visit on 5/27/2026 and observed multiple vehicles parked perpendicularly near the roadway on the west side dirt shoulder. Transportation Engineering staff recommends establishing a parallel parking only restriction on the west side of Vaqueros Avenue.
Based on field observations, staff determined that implementing parallel parking only restrictions in this area would improve sight lines and enhance overall traffic safety for vehicles that are parked in this section to enter southbound Vaqueros Avenue safely.
The parallel parking only restriction will give local authorities the ability to enforce the California Vehicle Code.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Parking will remain unrestricted at this location.
