RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT a resolution proclaiming March 2026 as Women's History Month, as recommended by the Contra Costa County Commission for Women and Girls.

FISCAL IMPACT:
None.

BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Commission for Women and Girls has requested that a Resolution recognizing March 2026 as Women's History Month be adopted by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.

The Commission for Women and Girls was established in 1984 to serve as an advisory committee to the Board of Supervisors and to stop the disregard and overlooking of women and girls in Contra Costa County. The Commission was also designed to provide advice on the health, welfare, and economic conditions facing women and girls in the community.

To date, the Commission for Women and Girls has provided educational events for women and girls in the County and provided referrals and resources for women and girls who need assistance with issues in domestic violence, abuse, and harassment. The Commission has also co-sponsored events and forums to address issues related to women and girls. The Commission uplifts numerous local and national champaigns, such as Women's History Month, for the recognition and improvement of women and girls' lives in Contra Costa County.
