IN THE MATTER OF honoring Charles Thomas, Battalion Chief, upon his retirement from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District after 34 years of service with Contra Costa County,

WHEREAS, Charles Thomas began his service with Contra Costa County as a Firefighter on May 7, 1990; and

WHEREAS, Charles Thomas was promoted to Fire Captain on April 1, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Charles Thomas was promoted to Battalion Chief on January 1, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Chief Thomas held various fulfilling roles, including Firefighter, Captain, and Battalion Chief, as well as serving as an EMS instructor and Firefighter Dispatcher, all of which contributed to his service as a public servant; and

WHEREAS, Chief Thomas is proud of his milestones, including the establishment of the firefighter recruitment team, which created a website and traveled throughout California to promote the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District; and

WHEREAS, He has responded to countless emergencies, including delivering a baby over the phone and providing life-saving assistance in vehicle accidents, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the community; and

WHEREAS, Chief Thomas's dedication to working in the busiest stations allowed him to gain invaluable experience, knowledge, and wisdom, ensuring the safety of his crews and the citizens he served; and
