Report Title:                     RESCIND Traffic Resolution 2013/4372, and ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2026/4553 to prohibit parking between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sundays only, on both sides of a portion of Oak View Avenue, Kensington area, District I.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

RESCIND Traffic Resolution 2013/4372, and ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2026/4553 to prohibit parking between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sundays only, on both sides of a portion of Oak View Avenue, Kensington area, District I.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

The Transportation Engineering Division was contacted by Supervisor Gioia’s Office on behalf of the manager of the Kensington Farmers’ Market. A request was made to change the existing Sunday-only parking restriction for the Farmers’ Market from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. to support an earlier start time.

In order to accommodate an earlier public opening of the Farmers’ Market at 9:00 a.m., an earlier restricted parking on Sundays is necessary for vendors to arrive and allow them to set-up and operate free of vehicles on this portion of Oak View Avenue.

Therefore, the Transportation Engineering Division recommends that the existing limited-time parking signs be changed to reflect a new time restriction, indicating “No Parking between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Sundays only”.

This Board of Supervisors action will also rescind Traffic Resolution No. 2013/4372, pertaining to limited-time parking on this portion of Oak View Avenue.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Limited-time parking restrictions will remain the same (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sundays only) at this location.
