RECOMMENDATIONS:

 

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to sign a ten-year extended warranty with Parkworks for maintenance and support for the car stacking system at 1026 Escobar Street for a total amount of $349,936. (100% General Fund)

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

Annual cost for the extended warranty starts at $25,200 and increase yearly as detailed in the attached proposal.  Total cost for the ten-year warranty is $349,936.  Annual cost will be part of the operating expenses of 1026 Escobar.

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The parking stacker system is a relatively new technology, and this warranty protects the county from defects or failures for a ten year period.  This will also allow County staff ample time to become familiar with the maintenance and service requirements for this new system.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

 

The possibility of a failure of the system would increase without proper scheduled maintenance and service and repair could cost more without the extended warranty.
