Report Title:                     Parkworks Mechanical Systems Contract for Installation of EV Chargers

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to execute a contract with Parkworks Mechanical System, in an amount not to exceed $18,000, for installation of additional EV chargers in the parking system at 1026 Escobar Street, in Martinez.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Service costs are funded by the Measure X, through the Climate Sustainability Trust allocation.

BACKGROUND:

Parkworks is a qualified contractor from the list maintained by the County pursuant to the Public Contract Code section 22034, whose work and products related to the parking system at 1026 Escobar are proprietary. Parkworks installed the existing parking stacker as part of the 1026 Escobar Street project to increase the amount of off-street, covered parking at the location. The system, as installed, has 10 platforms with EV charging available and as interest in utilizing the stacked parking system has increased from staff, so has the demand for EV chargers. This contract will allow for the installation of 10 additional EV chargers, doubling the charging capacity in the stacked parking system. The Public Works Energy Manager is responsible for the procurement of the EV chargers to be installed.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Not approving this contract will leave the County without a contractor to install the additional EV chargers for this project.
