BACKGROUND:
Four agreements to settle pending litigation, as defined in Government Code section 54956.9, became final during the period February 1, 2024, through March 31, 2024.
In re Appeal of California EMS Authority Decision to Rescind Approval of the Contra Costa EMSA's RFP-2015-CCC and 2017 EMS Plan Update. On February 6, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved a settlement in this administrative proceeding involving the County's 2015 request for proposals for emergency ambulance services (2015 RFP) and the County's 2017 emergency medical services plan update (2017 EMS Plan Update). Under the settlement, the California Emergency Medical Services Authority agreed to withdraw its administrative rescission of the 2015 RFP and denial of the 2017 EMS Plan Update, and the County agreed to withdraw its administrative appeals. The Board approved the settlement in closed session by a vote of 5-0. The effective date of the settlement agreement was March 7, 2024.
In re Amended Claim of First Baptist Church of Pittsburg: On February 6, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved a settlement for this government claim arising out of First Baptist Church's operation of the First Baptist Head Start program in East County. The Board approved the settlement for $45,000 in closed session by a vote of 5-0. The settlement agreement was fully executed on February 20, 2024. The funding source is the Employment and Human Resources Department budget.
