RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Probation Department, a Participating Addendum with Redwood Toxicology Laboratory, Inc., a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories, in an amount not to exceed $315,000, for laboratory and toxicology testing, screening services, and related solutions, for use by the Contra Costa County Probation Department, during the period of July 14, 2026 through December 1, 2029, under the terms of a cooperative purchasing contract awarded by Sourcewell, a State of Minnesota public agency, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Product costs paid by the General Fund (100% General Fund)
BACKGROUND:
Sourcewell is a State of Minnesota public agency that negotiates cooperative purchasing contracts after completing a competitive solicitation. The terms of those contracts are made available to public agencies participating in the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program. Contra Costa Purchasing Services is requesting approval of a participating addendum for the purchase of laboratory and toxicology testing, screening services, and related solutions offered through Redwood Toxicology Laboratory, Inc., a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories. The County's participating addendum incorporates the terms of a cooperative services contract awarded by Sourcewell, to Redwood Toxicology Laboratory, Inc., a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratory (Sourcewell Contract No. 101425-RTL). Approval of the participating addendum allows the County to obtain guaranteed pricing available through Sourcewell.
