Report Title: Engineering Manuals used by the Public Works Department and Flood Control District
?Recommendation of the County Administrator ? Recommendation of Board Committee
RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE the Public Works Department and Flood Control and Water Conservation District to use the current versions of the appropriate engineering manuals and specifications in the course of their work, as those manuals and specifications are superseded by County ordinance.
APPROVE that further exceptions in the application of the provision within manuals will be made from time to time by the Public Works Director or the Director's designee. Where a choice of standards exists, the Director, or designee, will determine the applicable standard under the circumstances.

BACKGROUND:
The manuals and specifications listed herein are generally accepted in California as standards in the field of civil engineering. By recognizing their use, the Board will reduce public misunderstanding and further the achievement of consistency in improvements plan and construction submittal.
