RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase on behalf of the Health Services Director, up to 63 Target gift cards, 25 each with a $25 value and 38 each with a $50 value, totaling $2,525; 62 Walmart gift cards, 25 each with a $25 value and 37 each with a $50 value, totaling $2,475, plus shipping costs up to $100 for a total amount not to exceed $5,100, to be utilized by the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Program for the period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

This $5,100 expenditure will be funded by the STD Prevention and Collaboration Grant. There is no impact to the County General Fund.

 

BACKGROUND:

The STI Program within Contra Costa Public Health, was awarded $492,532 from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for fiscal year 2024-25. These funds are intended to prevent and reduce the spread of STI’s in Contra Costa via various strategies, including collaboration with local community-based organizations. One of the allowable uses of the grant are incentives for increased testing for STI’s in the community. All incentives will be distributed based on eligibility and tracked as outlined by CDPH.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the prevention efforts of the program will be negatively impacted, and grant funds may not be fully utilized.
