☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee
RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with GradeTech, Inc., Kerex Engineering, Inc., and A. Teichert & Sons, Inc., to extend the term through January 8, 2026 for each contract, and to increase the payment limit with GradeTech, Inc., by $300,000 to a new payment limit of $1,200,000, to continue providing on-call services for various road, flood control, and airport maintenance road work, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% by Local Road, Flood Control District, and Airport Enterprise Funds.
BACKGROUND:
On January 9, 2024, the County awarded three (3) on-call contracts for various road, flood control, and airport maintenance work to supplement Public Works Maintenance crews during routine and emergency work, and to perform work that may be time sensitive and may require specialized equipment and skills. These contracts have a term of one-year, with the option of two, one-year extensions.
To retain the services of, and to ensure timely payment to, GradeTech, Inc., Kerex Engineering, Inc., and A. Teichert & Sons, Inc., the Public Works Director recommends that the Board approve Contract Amendment No. 1. This amendment will extend the term of the contracts through January 8, 2026, and will increase the payment limit with GradeTech, Inc., by $300,000 to a new payment limit of $1,200,000.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve the contract amendment may prevent the Public Works Department from completing routine and emergency road, flood control, and airport maintenance work in a timely manner.
