Report Title: Final Settlement of Claim, David Lynds vs. Contra Costa County

RECOMMENDATIONS:
RECEIVE this report concerning the final settlement of David Lynds and AUTHORIZE payment from the Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund in an amount not to exceed $180,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund payment of $180.000.
BACKGROUND:
Attorney Leslie A. Leyton, defense counsel for the County, has advised the County Administrator that within authorization an agreement has been reached settling the workers' compensation claim of David Lynds v. Contra Costa County. The Board's February 10, 2026 closed session vote was: Supervisors Gioia, Andersen, Burgis, Carlson and Scales-Preston - Yes. This action is taken so that the terms of this final settlement and the earlier February 10, 2026 closed session vote of this Board authorizing its negotiated settlement are known publicly.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Case will not be settled.
