IN THE MATTER OF Recognizing Gus S. Kramer, County Assessor, for 50 Years of Public Service to Contra Costa County.
WHEREAS, Gus S. Kramer, County Assessor, began his career with Contra Costa County on March 1, 1974, as a Coroner's Aide in the Sheriff-Coroner's Office; from which he transferred to the Probation Department on October 10, 1979, as a Group Counselor; and
WHEREAS, on February 4, 1980, Gus was hired as a Junior Real Property Agent in the Public Works Department and promoted to Senior Real Property Agent on December 1, 1992, and during his tenure as a Real Property Agent, he was involved in three (3) major Public Works projects including the improvement and widening of Appian Way in El Sobrante, and of Willow Pass Road in Bay Point and Pittsburg, and the acquisition of land for the Pleasant Hill/BART Station Redevelopment Project; and
WHEREAS, in June of 1994, Gus was elected as the County Assessor and is currently serving his eighth term in office, where his career achievements include creating promotional opportunities for women and minorities, enhancing technology to improve operational efficiencies, raising performance standards, and providing outstanding service to the public; and
WHEREAS, Gus performs his duties with honesty and integrity, and is knowledgeable, tenacious, conscientious, dedicated, always putting the public first, while leading the Assessor's Office with enthusiasm and passion, which has made him an outstanding County employee and a role model for his peers; and
