RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. (dba Curascript Specialty Distribution) in an amount not to exceed $240,000, for the purchase of Sublocade for the Martinez Detention Facility for the period from March 1, 2024 through February 28, 2025.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this action will result in expenditures of up to $240,000 and will be funded by the Opioid Settlement Funds.

 

BACKGROUND:

Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. is a pharmaceutical company that provides Sublocade that is used for Opioid Use Disorders (OUD). Detention Health Services will treat approximately 12 patients with OUD and a history of diversion within the Martinez Detention setting by providing Sublocade injections.

 

On March 12, 2024 the Purchasing Agent approved the use of Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. Detention Health Services will be reimbursed for the costs incurred for the implementation of medication assisted treatment for the Incarcerated Population utilizing Sublocade.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the department will not be able to purchase Sublocade for the Martinez Detention Center.
