RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE Budget Amendment No. BDA-26-00596, authorizing the appropriation of General Fund Capital Reserves in the amount of $1,010,000 for the purchase of 900 Thompson St., Martinez.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% General Fund (100300) - Capital Reserves
BACKGROUND:
Appropriations in the amount of $1,010,000 have been allocated to the purchase of 900 Thompson St. in Martinez, which was recently acquired by the County. This budget amendment will reimburse undesignated capital (Budget Unit 0111) from Capital Reserves.
The Sheriff - Coroner Department - Custody Alternative Facility has been operating at this location under a lease agreement since 1985. The building will provide office space for the Custody Alternative Facility and the Detention Health Division of Health Services. This building is very proximate to the Courts and the detention facility and will remain in County use for many years. In order to expedite the purchase, undesignated capital was used to fund the acquisition.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Undesignated capital will not have sufficient funding for approved projects for the current fiscal year.
