Report Title:                     Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26465 to Delete Vacant BOS-Specialist II Position

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26465 to cancel vacant Board of Supervisors - Specialist II - Exempt (unrepresented) position number 2483 in the Board of Supervisors District II Office.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action is cost neutral since this vacant position is unfunded.

BACKGROUND:

On July 23, 2024, the Board approved Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26302 to add one Board of Supervisors Assistant - Specialist position to allow the District II Office to hire additional staff as part of a larger staffing restructuring plan following the retirement of the former Chief of Staff.

The District II Office has filled behind its vacant position due to a retirement, completed internal promotions, and hired behind other budgeted vacancies. There is no longer a need for the additional position, which is currently unfunded due to the office being fully staffed.

Today’s action will eliminate the temporary position increase needed for the District Office to complete its staffing restructuring plan.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The District II Board Office will carry a vacant unfunded position that is no longer needed in the office’s staffing plan.
