Project Overview
• Project Name: Shell MVI.
• Location: 3188 Danville Boulevard, Alamo, CA 94507.
• Applicant: Aaron Hamilton.
• Property Owner: Humburg Investments LLC.
• Request: Approval of a Land Use Permit modification to Conditions of Approval (COA) #3 and #4 of a previous permit (CDLP18-02016) to update station branding and signage.
• Staff Recommendation: The project planner will be recommending approval of the application.
Proposed Scope of Work
The project primarily involves "refacing" existing station elements to meet current Shell MVI brand standards.
• Canopy and Fascia Improvements:
o Power washing and refacing the existing canopy fascia.
o Extending the fascia height from 30 1/8" to 36".
o Installation of two new illuminated Shell "Pecten" (logo) signs on the South and West elevations.
o Installation of non-illuminated logos on the North and East elevations.
o Upgrading canopy lighting as needed.
• Freestanding Signage:
o Refacing two existing freestanding pricing signs.
o Replacing current pricing text with new LED-illuminated digits for fuel prices.
• Under-Canopy and Site Details:
o Refacing fuel dispensers with new Shell branding (pump flags and dispenser flags).
o Painting site elements include bollards, columns, curbs, dispenser kick plates, and area lights to match the new color scheme.
o Installing new ADA column signs and column number "flags".
o Note: All existing "Rebel Wash" bollard signs are not allowed under current standards and are required to be removed as part of this project.
Site Specifications
• Zoning: R-B (Retail Business), -CE (Cannabis Exclusion), -S-2 (Sign Control Combining District).
• General Plan: MUC (Mixed-Use Community Specific - Alamo).
• Environmental/Safety Constraints: The site is located within a liquefaction zone and a 60-dBA noise control area.
