RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26346 to add two (2) Mental Health Specialist II Positions (VQVA) at salary plan and grade TC2 1284 ($5,762.13-$8,141.73), cancel one (1) vacant Mental Health Community Support Worker I (VQWE) position) (pos #20281) at salary plan and grade TC5 0875 ($3,730.50-$4,534.44) and cancel one (1) vacant Mental Health Community Support Worker II (VQVB) position (pos #18757) at salary plan and grade TC5 0968 ($4,090.32-$4,971.81). FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this would result in an annual cost of $130,610.46 with $19,080.84 in pension costs. This cost is offset by a $1.7 million reduction in contracted services. (100% Mental Health Realignment)

BACKGROUND:
Behavioral Health is requesting to add two (2) Mental Health Specialist II positions and two to the Children's System of Care. Specifically, these positions are needed for an in-house Intensive Home-Based Services (IHBS) program. IHBS are necessary, individualized strength-based interventions designed to ameliorate mental health conditions that negatively impact/interfere with a child or adolescent's functioning. IHBS providers teach and model healthy life and social skills, self-regulation, and decrease non-functional behaviors that impact daily living tasks. The aim of IHBS is to improve areas of vulnerability and achieve the goals set in the mental health treatment/care plan. IHBS are state-mandated specialty mental health services.
