RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the County Contract #27-905-7, with A. Scott Cohen, DDS and Florence K, Au, DMD, A Professional Corporation (formerly known as A. Scott Cohen, D.D.S. and Mark D. Stevenson, D.D.S., A Professional Corporation), in an amount not to exceed $330,000, to provide endodontics services to Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) members and county recipients who are part of the In-Home Support Services (IHSS) program for the period December 1, 2024 through November 30, 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this contract will result in contractual service expenditures of up to $330,000 over a three-year period and will be funded 100% by CCHP Enterprise Fund III revenues.
BACKGROUND:
CCHP has an obligation to provide certain specialized health care services including endodontics services to CCHP members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County. This Contractor has been a part of the CCHP Provider Network providing endodontics services and fostering a deep understanding of the CCHP organizations mission, values, and long-term objectives since December 1, 2013.
This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code ?? 26227 and 31000; Health and Safety Code ? 1451. Endodontic is the dental specialty concerned with the study and treatment of the dental pulp. Endodontics treatment is one of the most common procedures. If the dental pulp (containing nerves, arterioles, venules, lymphatic tissue, and fibrous tissue) become diseased or injured, endodontic treatment is required to save the tooth.
