Subject: Assertive Supervision Training

Information:

The Sherriff’s Office is seeking approval to send two deputies, Deputy Shanks and Deputy Fisher, to a POST-certified Assertive Supervision training course in San Jose.

 

The curriculum is designed to enhance leadership and supervisory competencies, specifically focusing on:

                     Operational Coordination: Improving the ability to delegate and manage team members effectively during special events and high-priority operations.

                     Communication: Developing advanced leadership communication skills to improve day-to-day team performance.

                     Team Leadership: Strengthening supervisory foundations to ensure consistent and professional field coordination.

                     

Logistics & Schedule

                     Dates: July 15, 2026 - July 17, 2026 (Travel Day on July 14).

                     Location: San Jose, CA.

                     Transportation: Travel will be facilitated via a County vehicle.

 

The total estimated investment is approximately $1,232 per deputy, which includes:

                     Registration: $375 per attendee.

                     Lodging: $558 (3 nights at the GSA rate).

                     Per Diem: $299 for meals and incidentals.

                     Note: This total does not include the potential overtime costs required to backfill these positions during the training period.
