Report Title:                     Purchase Order with Thermo Fisher Scientific (Asheville) LLC

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Thermo Fisher Scientific (Asheville) LLC in an amount not to exceed $1,095, and a related agreement, for the purchase of a warranty for a refrigerator at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) Inpatient Pharmacy for the period from October 3, 2023 through October 2, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this action will result in an expenditure of $1,095 and will be funded by the Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.

BACKGROUND:

In 2014 the Inpatient pharmacy received a Thermo Fisher refrigerator for the storage of IV medications for use at CCRMC from Baxter Healthcare. Once order qualifications were met in 2017, Baxter Healthcare transferred ownership of the refrigerator to Contra Costa County. Since that time, the Inpatient pharmacy has maintained a warranty agreement with Thermo Fisher in case of failure or service maintenance using a purchase order. Due to the terms and conditions including limited liability provisions, we are requesting Board of Supervisor approval.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the CCRMC Inpatient Pharmacy will not be able to purchase the warranty to cover the refrigerator in case of failure.
