RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase on behalf of the Health Services Director, up to 150 Target gift cards each with a $100 value totaling $15,000; 100 Safeway gift cards each with a $100 value totaling $10,000; 50 WinCo gift cards each with $100 value totaling $5,000; and $100 in shipping costs for a total amount not to exceed $30,100 for low-income clients served by the HIV and STI Program for the period from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The $30,100 expenditure will be funded by the Medi-Cal Waiver Program revenues. No County General Funds will be utilized.

 

BACKGROUND:

The HIV/AIDS and STI Program within Contra Costa Public Health, holds a Medi-Cal Waiver Program (MCWP) fee-for-service contract from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the MCWP contract term runs from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. These services are intended for home-bound low-income residents receiving Medical Case Management and includes food provision. All vouchers are distributed based on need and eligibility as outlined by CDPH.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, low-income HIV and STI Program clients may experience food scarcity.
