Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPOINT Tim Sbranti to the Labor Seat #3 seat, Doug Jones to the Labor Seat #4, Patience Ofodo to the Business Seat #12, Dawn King to the Business Seat #13 with terms expiring June 30, 2029; and REAPPOINT Timothy Jeffries to the Labor Seat #1 with a term expiring June 30, 2029 on the Workforce Development Board (WDB), as recommended by the Family and Human Services Committee.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact for this action.

BACKGROUND:

Compared to predecessor legislation, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) substantially changes Local Board composition by reducing local workforce development board size while maintaining a business and industry majority and ensuring representation from labor and employment and training organizations.

At the September 8, 2025, Family and Human Services Meeting, the Committee approved  the appointment of Tim Sbranti to the Labor Seat #3 seat, Doug Jones to the Labor Seat #4, Patience Ofodo to the Business Seat #12, Dawn King to the Business Seat #13 with terms ending June 30, 2029, and the reappointment of Timothy Jeffries to the Labor Seat #1 with a term ending June 30, 2029 on the Workforce Development Board.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to appoint and reappoint members is likely to reduce public participation in advising policy development.
