The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, California
IN THE MATTER OF: Recognizing The Sacred Tree Foundation for its Community Impact.
WHEREAS, The Sacred Tree Foundation is a student-led, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting food waste and hunger across Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, founded and led by Vanshika Tyagi, a student at Heritage High School in Brentwood, the organization empowers local youth to engage in meaningful civic service and environmental stewardship; and
WHEREAS, The Sacred Tree Foundation successfully addresses local food insecurity by harvesting and collecting excess produce from neighborhood backyards, and partnering with local regional farms to maximize community support; and
WHEREAS, through these dedicated efforts, the student-led organization has successfully rescued and donated over 2,700 pounds of fresh, nutritious produce to vulnerable families and individuals in need;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby commend and recognize The Sacred Tree Foundation for its outstanding contributions to East County, its dedication to fighting hunger, and its inspiring leadership in empowering the next generation of youth.
