RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26502 to reallocate the salary of Director of Risk Management - Exempt (AJD3) at Salary Plan and Grade BD5 1001 from $15,719.17 - $19,106.75 to BD5 1001 $17,330.39 - $21,065.19 and place the current incumbent (#88981) at step 3 in the new range in the Risk Management Department, as recommended by the Human Resources Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this item will result in an annual salary and benefits cost increase of approximately $29,865 and a cost increase up to $14,932 for FY 25-26 and will be funded by 100% Risk Management Internal Service Funds.

BACKGROUND:
Human Resources completed a salary study of the Director of Risk Management - Exempt classification. Of the eight Bay Area comparator agencies, only one match was found with due to the additional responsibilities required in the CCC Risk Management department structure which includes responsibility for a self-funded and self-administered Workers' Compensation program. In comparator counties, the Work Comp program is supported by a contracted third-party administrator. The Risk Management function was frequently found to be a sub-division of a larger department such as County Administration or Human Resources.

The Director of Risk Management - Exempt currently has a maximum monthly salary of $19,106.75 and Human Resources recommends applying a 10.25% increase resulting in a new maximum monthly salary of $21,065.19 which is consistent with the nature of the work. The incumbent will remain at the same pay rate which is Step 3 in the reallocated salary range.
