RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee (Director of Environmental Health or Assistant Director of Health Services), to execute on behalf of the County Grant Agreement #28-511-50 (EA35-24-0050) with the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), to pay County an amount not to exceed $26,128, for continuation of the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) assistance funds for the Department's Environmental Health Division Solid Waste Program, for the period July 1, 2024 through October 31, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Agreement will result in a payment to the County of $26,128 for the Department's Solid Waste Program. No County match is required.
BACKGROUND:
The CalRecycle provides these grants annually to assist Statewide LEA in performing their duties. Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 43230, this grant award will be used solely for the support of the solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs, including personnel, training, equipment, supplies, and technical support. County has been receiving funds from CalRecycle for the Solid Waste Program since January 1991.
On November 28, 2023, the Board of Supervisors approved Grant Agreement #28-511-48 in amount of $26,112 payable to the county from CalRecycle for the LEA Grant Program, to provide funding for the Department's Environmental Health Division Solid Waste Program, for the period from July 1, 2023 through October 29, 2024.
On May 14, 2024, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Health Services Department to submit funding application #28-511-49 for continuation of funding for the Solid Waste Program through October 31, 2025.
