RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, to execute a purchase order with Spok, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $34,000 for the renewal of Enhanced 911 Enterprise Alert System maintenance, subject to the terms of Spok's Customer Agreement, for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost is charged to the user department. 100% User Departments.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Information Technology's (DOIT) Telecommunications Division staff oversees the maintenance of the telephone equipment at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. Spok Inc. (Spok) provides critical communication alerting solutions and is the developer of the Enhanced 911 (E911) Enterprise Base System. Spok's alerting and notification system offers both foundational and advanced capabilities with primary rate interface connectivity, along with an emergency communication interface that ensures precise location data for emergency responders. Additionally, Spok's Bypass Box with Watchdog Timer maintains uninterrupted communication by monitoring system health and activating bypass mechanisms in case of failures. Ensuring a safe and secure environment at County facilities is of utmost importance, and an essential part of that responsibility is the emergency response capability. This system plays a crucial role in mitigating and preventing accidents, thereby reducing potential liabilities.
Spok provides specialized maintenance services which establishes them as a sole source provider.
