RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Resolution No. 2024- recognizing the week of May 6-12, 2024 as National Nurses' Week.

The important work of nurses providing support to the individuals and families of Contra Costa County would not be recognized.

IN THE MATTER OF Recognizing National Nurses Week (May 6-12, 2024)


WHEREAS, nurses are the backbone of healthcare, providing compassionate care, expertise, and support to individuals and communities in many settings such as the hospital, clinics, schools, detention facilities, on the phone, and out in the community; and

WHEREAS, the dedication, commitment, and tireless efforts of the 1,650 nurses employed by Contra Costa Health, make a difference in the health and well-being of our residents; and

WHEREAS, nurses demonstrate unwavering professionalism, courage, and resilience, especially during times of crisis, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to all those in need; and

WHEREAS nurses serve on the front lines, risking their lives treating the injured and sick during natural disasters and public health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic;

WHEREAS, nurses serve as advocates for patients and clients, advocating for their rights, dignity, and access to healthcare and social services, while promoting health equity and social justice; and

WHEREAS, nurses play a critical role in educating patients and clients, families, and communities about preventive health measures, disease management, and healthy lifestyl...
